Classic Shell
Classic Shell is a programme which restores the functionality of older versions of Windows on the latest 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 versions. It installs a modified taskbar, start button and ribbon, and can even modify other programmes like Internet Explorer.

Classic Shell, as the name suggests, is about creating a ‘classic’, traditional feel to your Windows experience. You’ll notice that the search functions of the contextual elements of the taskbar can be removed, and are replaced by the old start button and its branching list of folders, subfolders and programmes. It even modifies the appearance and functionality of the Internet Explorer programme, with large, easy to read icons, buttons and menu options.
Do I need this app?
The features are useful for someone who wants that old school experience. If you grew up on the older versions of Windows and want to return to those glory days, then this might be the download for you. Be aware that the developer has stopped updating Classic Shell, and while the current build works well you might need to visit the forums to solve problems you encounter.
